Weekend Projects!!!

One of the things we had to get done in order to keep moving forward on the new garage is to clean out this old shed. As can be seen in the "before" picture, it was BAD!! There was an old kitchen stove (that didn't work) and a "bar" from somewhere that was disgusting. I don't even remember what else was filling this up but it was full. Solid waste (a local place to dump garbage) was "open" today so we borrowed my dad's truck and trailer and made good use of our morning. I even raked out a big trash can off little paper garbage that had fallen out of cans and cars over the years. DISGUSTING!

This is what it looks like now. It is so much better. Our bikes and lawn mower are still in there for now. And a few other things that will be moved when the new garage is a little more done. We will be tearing this building down carefully to use the wood and the metal (from the roof) to finish the inside of our upstairs "wreck room" in the new garage. But first I have to pull all the nails that were used to hang stuff on.

As a bonus, my dad came down with his little tractor and disc (is that how you spell it?) and worked up a teeny garden plot. With the construction, I don't want to have the work of a big garden but I can't imagine not having a few fresh veggies over the summer. So, he made me just enough space for tomatoes, peppers, cucumber and maybe a few little "rows" of green beans. There won't be enough beans to can unless I have some miracle plants but there will be enough to grill and eat fresh. YUM!!! As I look at this picture, the plot looks much much much larger than it actually is.

It feels SO good to be productive...and tonight we're treating ourselves to Monicals AND going to Rural King. We are just being country bumpkins all together today. ;-)
